The Bumpus House is located at 3153 W. 11th Street, directly to the left of Ralphie Parker’s family home. Known to fans of A Christmas Story as the fictional residence of Ralphie’s hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses, and their 785 smelly hound dogs. The Bumpus Hounds are famous for harassing Ralphie’s Old Man and stealing the Christmas turkey.
Overnight rentals of A Christmas Story House began in June 2017, and have proven to be very popular with both out of town and local guests. With the Bumpus House we are excited to be able to offer our visitors additional lodging options. We are always striving to offer new ways to make visiting Ralphie’s house on Cleveland Street a unique and memorable experience.
The home was previously owned by Joyce Seagro until her passing last October. Joyce lived in the residence during the filming of A Christmas Story and its sequel My Summer Story, the latter actually featuring the house as the home of the Bumpuses.
A Christmas Story House plans to open The Bumpus House to overnight guests in late-2018. Indoe Painting and Home Improvements have been hired to renovate the property prior to its opening. Scroll down for current images of the renovations.
The Bumpus House is being completely remodeled on the inside while much of the exterior remain the same. Below are some recent images of the interior renovations. New beams, framing, floors, HVAC, electrical and plumbing are all part of the initial renovations.
